Iris flowers (kakitsubata) are dynamically drawn in dark and light shades of navy blue on a golden print. The background drawn to draw an arc is likened to the shore of a pond, and the iris flowers that grow in clusters there are arranged rhythmically.
In early summer, the irises (kakitsubata) grow beautifully with their glossy purple flowers and fresh greenery. The swamp of Ota has been a famous spot for Iris irises since the Heian period, and is also mentioned in a poem by Toshinari Fujiwara, a poet from the Heian period to the early Kamakura period.
