International Woodblock Print Group Exhibition at the Portland Japanese Garden Global Center for Culture and Art

This touring exhibition was jointly curated by the Honolulu Museum of Art and the Portland Japanese Garden Global Center for Culture and Art in Oregon, USA.

The exhibition was held at the Portland Japanese Garden from March 7 to June 15, 2026.

Following its presentation at the Honolulu Museum of Art, the exhibition is now on view at the Portland Japanese Garden Global Center for Culture and Art for the second half of its tour.

Kenji Takenaka presented five new works that carry forward the tradition of Kyoto woodblock printing, known as Kyō-hanga, while reimagining it through a contemporary perspective.

The works showcase an exceptional level of craftsmanship achieved through traditional Japanese water-based woodblock printing techniques.
