Kenji Takenaka has produced a limited edition reproduction of Utagawa Hiroshige's "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo: The Plum Shop at Kameido" which is housed at the Honolulu Museum of Art in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.

Since holding a workshop on woodblock printing carving and printing at the Honolulu Museum of Art in 2007, Kenji Takenaka, president of Takezasado and a fifth-generation Takenaka woodblock printer, has been inspecting and meeting with the ukiyo-e works in the museum's collection for several years. During this time, he noticed that "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo: The Plum Shop at Kameido" by Utagawa Hiroshige, which is housed at the museum, has three different colors in addition to the original work. He proposed to the museum that he reproduce the work to investigate why the different colors exist, and received approval for the production.

In mid-October, Takenaka visited the United States to deliver the reproduction, and conveyed his speculations from the perspective of a modern printer who produced the reproduction of the different-color work to the Honolulu Museum of Art. A printing demonstration using the woodblock was also held at the museum for HoMA collectors and fellow members, which was a great success.

The reproduction, created by skilled artisans, will be sold exclusively at the Honolulu Museum of Art Museum Shop and Takezasado's storefront and online shop. Only 300 copies are made, 108% larger than the original, and the words "Honolulu Museum of Art" are printed on the back. Once the limited number of prints have been made, the woodblocks will be stored at the Honolulu Museum of Art.
