An original color interpretation by woodblock print artist Kenji Takenaka, inspired by the iconic ukiyo-e composition by Katsushika Hokusai from the Edo period. While drawing on the traditional tonal qualities of ukiyo-e, the work reimagines them through a bold, graphic palette, resulting in a distinctly modern expression. The distant presence of Mount Fuji, the powerful swirling waves, and the striking contrast between stillness and motion come together to create a dynamic and compelling composition.

Hokusai Katsushika's OPUS MAGNA “Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji”

The masterpiece of Hokusai Katsushika “Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji” series of works which depicts the changes of appearance of the subject in various ways depending on location and time.Originally, this series was planned to be completed with 36 illustrations as the title suggests, but due to its popularity, 10 illustrations were added, making it a total of 46 illustrations. (The first 36 views are called Omote Fuji, and the additional 10 views are called Ura Fuji.) Hokusai was 72 years old when Thirty-Six Views of Mt. Fuji was published. This is a masterpiece that shows his insatiable desire to create even in his old age.
