Sanjyo- Oohashi
Sanjyo- Oohashi
Sanjo Ohashi, the final stop on the historic Tokaido route, stands as a place where past and present merge seamlessly. The bridge’s ornamental giboshi (metal caps) still bear sword marks said to date back to the Ikedaya Incident. On its western side stands a statue of Yaji and Kita, the comical travelers from the classic novel Tōkaidōchū Hizakurige. Today, the bridge remains a popular gathering spot for young people.
This artwork captures the timeless presence of Sanjo Ohashi, a quiet witness to the changing eras of Kyoto.
